Tip: Viewing Source Codes on an iPad or iPhone. Tip: Viewing Source Codes on an iPad or iPhone.

Here’s a great little tip I found (while developing my employ.me web app) for viewing source codes on an iOS device.

1. Bookmark a page, it doesn’t matter what, it can be this one.

2. Copy the code below.

javascript:(function()%7Bvar%20a=window.open(‘about:blank’)
.document;a.write(‘%3C!DOCTYPE%20html%3E%3Chtml%3E%3Chead
%3E%3Ctitle%3ESource%20of%20′+location.href+’%3C/title%3E%3Cmeta
%20name=%22viewport%22%20content=%22width=device-width%22%20/%3E%3C/head%3E%3Cbody%3E%3C/body%3E%3
C/html%3E’);a.close();var%20b=a.body.appendChild
(a.createElement(‘pre’));b.style.overflow=’auto’;b.style.
whiteSpace=’pre-wrap’;b.appendChild(a.createTextNode(
document.documentElement.innerHTML))%7D)();

3. Open your bookmarks and edit the one you just added. Rename it ‘View Source’ or something appropriate.

4. Paste the code above in place of the original link.

And that’s it! Tap on the bookmark when viewing a page and a new tab will open with the source code of that page.

Finally got round to adding a blog! Finally got round to adding a blog!

I’ve been aware of WordPress for a while, but I never really appreciated just what an important tool it can be for a web developer until we started looking into Content Management Systems in detail, as part of one of the modules on my course.

I’ve started to reach the stage where everything is beginning to click and WordPress is looking pretty straight forward; once you’ve realized what all the PHP is doing and how it all links together. I’m currently on target for a decent grade in the CMS group assignment (which I’ll be adding uploading to the portfolio section in a few weeks) and I’d like to look into alternatives to WP once its finished; particularly Joomla.

I’ve been busting to add a blog to this site for weeks now so I’m glad to have finally gathered the skills to be able to integrate one!
